As the calendar turns to 2026, Lund Builders Inc. is reflecting on a year of growth and preparing for a future defined by new design trends. The family-owned firm, a staple in the St. Croix Valley for more than 60 years, continues to balance tradition with modern expansion.
Tami Kuchera, vice president of Lund Builders, sat down to discuss the company’s recent successes and what lies ahead for regional homeowners.
Q: Looking back at 2025, what do you consider the company’s greatest win?
Kuchera: Adding new talent to our already talented team.
Many of our employees have been with us 25–38 years. They are very good at what they do. Yet I watched new people come in and meld in such a great way. To recognize another person’s creativity and see how you can work together to make a better team is true talent.
Q: What was the primary challenge the team faced this past year?
Kuchera: Dealing with rising costs. Tariffs were a “boogie man” early on, causing some to delay projects until things stabilized. As part of the St. Croix Valley Homebuilders Association, Lund Builders worked with municipalities and monitored legislation to safeguard affordable housing. Then, we could barely handle the volume of houses going into production.
Q: What is on the horizon for Lund Builders in 2026?
Kuchera: We are looking forward to developing better processes to assist homeowners in their involvement during construction. We are also excited to implement new design ideas and materials like new stains, 2026 color palettes, flooring and metals.
Additionally, we look forward to seeing the new CVTC student-built home come together in May.
